Thoughts

Mike, Even though I’ve told you much of this already, I want to say it again. You’ve had such a profound impact on my life in a way that not many people have. It was wonderful to know you for 3 years at uni. I didn’t know you too well back then, but always thought you were a decent chap. You were usually just the cool, funny guy I’d see around class or, more often, at parties! I got to know you better after uni when you offered me a job at Jessops. What followed were 5 brilliant years working alongside you. Your faith, encouragement and the professional example you set for me shaped who I am today. Before working with you, I never thought I could love a job, but you made it such a fun and great place to work! You always treated me with care and understanding. You looked out for me in tough times. You made me feel competent and valued. You built me up so that I could confidently manage the store on my own. You gave me the skills and the tools to fuel me not only professionally, but creatively too. I have a belief in myself now that was not there before. You helped me to find myself, to grow and to know what I want and need in my life. I would be remiss if I didn’t also mention that without you I would not have met the lovely Sarah, who remains a very close friend to this day. We catch up often and regularly reminisce about our time working with you. I know she thinks highly of you too. We sadly closed our store in 2019 but the impact that working there with you I still feel deeply to this day. You are one of the kindest, gentlest, most amazing and unique human beings I’ve ever known. I miss you! Your friend and loyal sidekick, Tom

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
